On 9/11, we’re doing something new because so much is happening for our movement. This event will honor the dead and stand up for the truth. The event will be from 6:30 to 9:30 PM in the 500 capacity main Friends Meeting House of the 15th St. Society of Friends (“Quakers”) in Manhattan. This is a beautiful historic site and has a long tradition of radical peace-making. Speaking truth to power. Connecting with the universal light that is in everyone’s heart. Some traditions call it Buddha nature, and some call it Christ within, or the Divine, or you can just call it the truth we revere, and hold dear, and work to make further revealed.
Let’s make this event powerful for the work that we need to do in this year to come.
We’re going to sit together for a period of prayerful silence, there’s going to be an hour of free sharing from people who feel called to share, and there were also be some people who will be invited to give a few longer talks. We are inviting speakers now. We will have a microphone and amplified sound. I’ve invited people from Progressive Jewish congregations, the Mennonite Church, Catholic Worker, and the local Zen Zendos. I’m working with local political activists as well.
