100-Day Countdown to the International Day of Peace @ Summer of Peace Summit 2016

The UN has dedicated the 2016 International Day of Peace to “The Sustainable Development Goals–Building Blocks for Peace.” The Summer of Peace on the Shift Network leading up to September 21st gives us the opportunity to shift from concern about the great challenges facing our nation and our world to taking a stand on Peace Day as one human community united in hope. We will discuss plans at the United Nations and hear guests around the world highlighting the actions of people serving a wide range of causes yet building together a new culture of peace. Each international guest will partner with a young person from their region, some of whom will recite a poem or play music. join us!

11 Days of Global Unity – 11 Ways to Transform Your World
September 11- 21, 2017
Culminating on the INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE Sept. 21st

It’s Time to Unite Our Efforts!

Every day we hear about new social, political and environmental challenges for our society and world. Millions of people are concerned about increasing economic insecurity, militarism, and environmental .degradation Growing polarization and intolerance is keeping us from collectively addressing the issues that potentially threaten our civilization’s very existence: The Mass Extinction of Species and Climate Disruption – both of which scientists say may become irreversible in the next 5-10 years if extraordinary action isn’t taken.

If we want a Livable Future, then we believe it is crucial to carry out a strategic collaborative plan for large scale coalition-building, collective action and the promotion of “WE Thinking” that prioritizes the Common Good – the wellbeing of all people and the entire interdependent web of life. 11 Days of Global Unity and the 11 Campaigns for Change provide a powerful platform to carry out this plan.

Join the Action – WE will promote your activities during 11 Days of Global Unity!

What are you and your group doing that contributes to peace, sustainability and transformation? We will work with you to get the word out to a global audience!

Medicine For The People Spiritual Gathering @ Kraus Springs
Sep 21 – Sep 24 all-day
Medicine For The People Spiritual Gathering @ Kraus Springs | Spicewood | Texas | United States

Medicine for the People Spiritual Gathering is our grassroots movement for Love, Compassion and Healing in our collective conscious, for ourselves, our community, humanity and all our relations. We come together as a collective with the intent of offering our medicine to each other, to Mother Earth, Father Sky and All that IS. We are being called to share our heart space, to give gratitude as we come back to our authentic self and share our joy, peace, harmony and to help us heal in our own way and as a collective. This is a stand for Love and Unity. This is our medicine for a better tomorrow.

We gather to bring Heaven to Earth through free will and soul sovereignty in a unified collective, we humbly speak for humanity and offer healing to all our relations. Through prayer, ceremony, visualization and divine play we journey together with celebration in the arms of mother nature. Join us in beautiful Krause Springs for a weekend of camping, community, and co-creation. We will be sending our prayers through our heart space resonance as we play together, we sing together, we dance together and hold visions of Unity and Harmony for ALL.

We support each other with sharing ideas, gifts, services, talents and abilities. Co creation through collaboration. Everyone is offered the opportunity to give in a unique way, even if it is as simple as a hug, a few kind words, or asking how we can help. In this co creative space we join together for celebrating and cultivating our heart space. As a unified collective we join together in a Saturday Ceremony to give our prayers and Love affirmations to the collective consciousness as our own Medicine for the People. This fall equinox of 2017 we will be joining EARTHDANCE.ORG in a global link-up prayer for peace. We will be in the heart of the largest synchronized peace meditation in the world that takes place along with with the United Nations’ International Day of Peace. Earthdance has grown to become one of the largest globally synchronized music and dance events, having been held in over 1,000 locations in 80 countries. We welcome all open hearts to be apart of this globalized peace prayer and spiral dance. Bring your drums instruments and hold space with us for peace on our planet Earth.
Along with Earthdance prayer for peace we will be having other HEALING WORKSHOPS, and a GROUP ALTER to have as a focus of prayer and Love affirmation. Please bring sacred objects, pictures, crystals, trinkets and /or symbols of those you wish to receive our collective highest intention, affirmations and prayers. We will also have SACRED SOUND SUNDAY accompanied with an ANGEL WALK. We encourage all sacred instruments to come together Sunday morning as we journey into sound healings sessions in lush tropical landscapes of harmony and sing to mother earth together.
The event is FREE with the cost of the land fees that go directly to Krause Springs. Camping is $15 per night for 12 and up $10 for ages 4-11. Gates close at 9 pm. Please see website for rules and details @ www.krausesprings.net. If you would like to contribute to the gathering by offering a workshop/ playshop please contact us at secretagentoflove@gmail.com with a brief description of what it is you would like to offer. We are all guests on this beautiful land and want to be welcomed back so please be mindful of all rules and other guests in the park.
As a collective we have the power of intention and free will to mix with Love and compassion. When we come together under a unified mind and collective resonate heart space we can create great change for a better tomorrow. We can help in healing the quantum field of the human consciousness. We get to be the change we would like to see! 3 days of camping communing and co-creation! If you are feeling called to join please RSVP ‘going’ asap so we may hold the correct amount of group space with the landowners. Keep up to speed on all that is happening by checking in the event page regularly and stay informed. This is our grassroots movement for Love! We are all here to Love and BE LOVED! We are the RAINBOW WARRIORS of native american prophecy. We are all here to bring change, if not us…who? We are so honored to have been invited to co-produce PEACE IN THE PARK, a free event put on by the Brahma Kumaris in the Music Concourse (bandshell) on 9/23 from 11-6. The event is tied in with U.N. Connect for Peace 2018 @ Foley Square Park
Sep 20 @ 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Connect for Peace 2018 @ Foley Square

Connect for Peace is a public street happening for peace in honor of the International Day of Peace. We invite participants and passersby to connect with one another in a spirit of openness, spontaneity, and childlike innocence. A cross between performance art and a peace rally, these powerful events have touched the lives of people from around the globe.

We take a moment to connect for peace. We take a moment to really see the person in front of us. We say, “I see you” and are genuinely seen in return. The bungee cords physicalize the invisible connections between all people. As we realize how interconnected we are, peace is a natural outcome.

Amazing things happen at every Connect for Peace event. It touches something deep. Passersby stop to share intimate details of their lives. Strangers are moved to extraordinary acts of kindness. The premise is simple but the results are incredibly powerful.

Please share this event! Peace on!

From Peace Accelerators Description: It is our dream (and hopefully it will become your dream as well) that over the next decade we begin to celebrate the International Day of Peace (September 21st) more and more each year, until over time it becomes the first holiday that the entire world celebrates.

It is not religious and it is not about any made-up country — it is about all of us seeing the commonality between each other, realizing we’re on one Earth (and in many ways this place needs us to adapt to her quite quickly at this crucial point in history).

This Thursday we are holding a large beautiful inspiring event for the International Day of Peace. There will be community leaders, speakers, musicians, meditation, yoga, dj’s and much more.

This will be one evening you will not want to miss.

It will be the largest celebration for the International Day of Peace in NYC, the heartbeat city of our one planet.

Let’s show the world what we want.

FREE Laughter Yoga on the PHONE! @ On the Phone from Wherever You Are!

Join others for 15 glorious minutes of Laughter Yoga on the phone as we celebrate 11 Days of Global Unity! Today, we culminate these 11 days as we mark the UN International Day of Peace. When Dr. Kataria, founder of Laughter Yoga, began spreading his vision of sharing intentional laughter, he recognized that Laughter is a universal language and since its founding in 1995, he has hoped others will share his vision of using shared intentional laughter to help the world find peace. I’m SURE I’ve enjoyed laughing with each and every person who has called in during the 11 Days of Global Unity. On this, our last call of this series, we will focus on Laughter Exercises that envision a more peaceful world. As always: no previous experience, no special clothes or equipment required. CALL: +1-218-339-2460 CODE: 52844# (LAUGH#) We’ll start with SMILE-UPsSM and get the giggles with silly, playful LAUGHTER exercises that help unite us as we decrease stress, anxiety and depression, increase joy, connection, creativity, energy, focus and productivity. Connect to others through LAUGHTER! Time given is for Central Standard Time. More information about Sarah and her work on www.SeriousGiggles.com The Event Page has more details including a MAP to find the correct time in YOUR time zone and a link to the Facebook Event where you can RSVP if you want to connect further. Also NOTE: Sarah continues these Laughter Calls every MONDAY MORNING at 9am Central Standard Time for 15 minutes. You are always invited! Thanks for joining the fun as we all work together to find a more unified, and much more peaceful world, one big smile and one shared laugh at a time!

HEARTMATH INSTITUTE & PARTNERS Create 24 Hours of GLOBAL PEACE
Sep 5 @ 7:45 pm – 8:45 pm

The International Day of Peace (Peace Day) is observed around the world each year on September 21st – a day to commemorate and strengthen the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples.

Please join us on September 21, 2019 when HeartMath Institute and partners align in heart-focused intention to create 24 hours of peace.

Peace One Day, Heart Ambassadors, Pathways to Peace, and Peace Direct will broadcast from London a 2-minute short film with a heart-centered meditation in between a series of live events celebrating the International Day of Peace. HeartMath’s Sheva Carr and Dr. Scilla Elworthy, Founder of the Oxford Research Group and three-time Nobel Peace Prize Nominee, are collaborating with Peace One Day to help anchor this Global Heart Meditation, which will further activate the vision of the Global Coherence Initiative. Learn more about the event and Watch the Live Broadcast on Sept. 21.

Peace Wave Meditation – Moments of Mass Mindfulness (MOMM)
MOMM is thrilled to be part of the Peace Coalition network of Peace One Day and a global partner of Pace e Bene’s Campaign Nonviolence. MOMM is organizing peace meditations around the globe, each beginning at midday in your local time zone, creating a “peace wave” which will flow around the world over 24 hours as each nation and location hits midday. Register your MOMM group for International Peace Day. Learn more.

Howard Martin, one of the original co-founders of HeartMath,

will lead the Moments of Mass Mindfulness World Peace Day Meditation

on September 21st at a HeartMath workshop event in London,

10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (BST).

More details on the public workshop from HeartMath.

At 12 – 12:30 p.m. London time,

join Howard Martin World Day Peace talk live-streaming and meditation.

You can join others on the Global Coherence App.

The HeartMath Institute and Global Coherence Initiative
We will be joining communities around the world in mass meditation using the Global Coherence app. To create this peace wave, our hope is to synchronize together and radiate heart to the world on Sept. 21, 2019 at 12:00 noon at your location.

The Global Coherence App created by HeartMath Institute connects people from all around the world who have a sincere desire to add heart to their daily lives and the world itself. The app enables anyone to join public groups. The app is free and does not require a sensor for you to actively participate. With a HeartMath pulse sensor, you can measure your individual coherence and view the coherence contribution to the Global Group as well.

Global Coherence App
You also can access guided heart-focused meditations and see your pink marker on the global map. If you have not already, sign up for the Global Coherence Initiative app. You can download the free app from Google Play or the App Store.
As part of this event, The Global Consciousness Project will be observing random number generators to see the degree to which our collective coherent fields can facilitate patterns as they evolve from chaos to coherence. Learn more.
The Global Coherence network is a community of people who strive to awaken the higher mental, emotional and spiritual capacities in themselves and the global community through genuine love, care and heartfelt compassion.

We hope you will join us and others around the world for 24 hours of Peace.

Campaign Nonviolence Week of Action @ International Movement
Sep 14 – Sep 21 all-day
Campaign Nonviolence Week of Action @ International Movement

Campaign Nonviolence was created to help unite movements and build peace by working to end war, poverty, racism and environmental destruction.
Since 2014 tens of thousands of people have joined Campaign Nonviolence (CNV) every September marching for peace, racial justice, economic equality and environmental healing. Now, we are gearing up for another powerful nationwide mobilization September 14-22 — please join us!
Over 2,660 marches, rallies, workshops and other public events took place in all 50 states and 25 countries last September. This year we will build on this growing movement by bringing all of our issues together in the same week coast to coast and around the world — and calling with one voice for a nonviolent culture that works for everyone.

A Celebration of Diversity and A Feast for Peace – by STOP of Scottsdale AZ – on the INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE @ Mountainview Community Center
Sep 21 @ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

A Celebration of Diversity and A Feast for Peace

  • Sponsored by STOP:  Scottsdale Together Overcoming Prejudice

  • This is a community potluck to meet your neighbors.

  • Saturday, September 21, 2019, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, the International Day of Peace

  • Held at:  Mountainview Community Center Multipurpose Room, 8625 E. Mountainview Road, Scottsdale, AZ.  Space is limited to 150 people so please sign up on Sign Up Genius at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0a4da4ab2fab9-acelebration

  • Everyone is welcome.  Bring a dish to share to celebrate your personal diversity. Beverages will be provided. Vegan, nut free and vegetarian options will be provided.

This event is in response to a recent hate crime in McDowell Mountain Ranch in North Scottsdale.  Lisa Sprout, an oncologist who lives in McDowell Mountain Ranch, said “The community we live in talks about how tolerant we are…but in this gated community, we have hate crimes.”  A photo was posted to a front door which appears to depict a scene from the civil rights movement, with white protesters holding a sign that says in all caps: “GO BACK TO AFRICA NEGROES.” In response, a grass roots community effort sprung up called STOP.

STOP is a group of concerned neighbors who believe positive change comes about through respect, understanding, education, awareness, engagement and strength in numbers. We seek to solidify Scottsdale as a safe and welcoming city for all.

History

The Elysabeth Kleinhans Theatrical Foundation was established by Founding Artistic Director, Elysabeth Kleinhans, to create a new, state-of-the-art theater complex to host original and innovative theatrical productions in East Midtown Manhattan.

In 2002, the building at 59 East 59th Street was donated to the Foundation. The building was then gut renovated, creating three brand new theaters, Theater A, Theater B, and Theater C, designed by architect, Leo Modrcin, who collaborated with the Foundation to create an inviting ambiance.

Under the leadership of Founding Artistic Director Elysabeth Kleinhans and Executive Producer Peter Tear, 59E59 Theaters opened its inaugural season in February 2004 with a production of The Stendhal Syndrome produced by then resident company, Primary Stages, in the largest of its three spaces, Theater A. Shortly following, in April 2004, the other two spaces – Theater B and Theater C, opened their doors with productions of Sun Is Shining, by the ground breaking British-Chinese Mu Lan Theatre Company, and My Arm, Tim Crouch’s critically-acclaimed hour-long solo show from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, during the Theaters’ first annual Brits Off Broadway—a season dedicated to premiering new work by Off Broadway-style UK companies.

Since 2004, the theaters have been continuously occupied with shows running from three to seven weeks. For detailed information about past productions, please see our Archives.

In 2017, Elysabeth Kleinhans and Peter Tear stepped down from their roles, and Val Day, a longtime agent with William Morris and ICM, was appointed as Artistic Director. With the addition of a new Artistic Director, 59E59 Theaters moved to the final phase of transitioning from the founding team to a traditional theater management structure, begun in 2012 with the appointment of Brian Beirne as Managing Director

Email:  ecoshanti@brahmakumaris.com

World Interfaith Harmony Meet is being organized by Brahma Kumaris at its international Head Quarter Complex Gyan Sarovar, an academy for a better world.

This event is being celebrated during the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Gyan Sarovar. Many spiritual, religious and faith leaders will be participating in the meet. The aim and objectives of this event are to share common interests and to also come to common understanding regarding actions that could be taken to mitigate climate-related issues, inter-regional harmony, and value-based education systems. The list of the invited guests include:

HH Dalai Lama Ji,

Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev Ji,

Sri Ravi Shankar Ji,

Dadi Janki Ji, and many others.

Gyan Sarovar

The Academy for the Better World, known in Hindi as Gyan Sarovar, offers residential programs and courses on development and practical implementation of human, moral and spiritual values and principles.

The Brahma Kumaris started building the campus for the Academy for a Better World, an institution of higher learning established by the Brahma Kumaris along with its sister institution, the World Renewal Spiritual Trust, and Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation, in 1991. The aim was to provide a training facility for the institution’s outreach to all sections of society. Within a few years, 28 acres of land near the institution’s headquarters in Mount Abu was transformed into a modern village complex in a quiet, rural setting.

The campus includes Universal Harmony Hall, an auditorium that can seat 1,600 people and has facilities for simultaneous translation in 16 languages; the International Spiritual Art Gallery housing sculptures, murals, audio-visual and laser displays and other works of art from around the world; the International Center for Higher Learning comprising 13 seminar and training rooms; accommodation for up to 1,500 people; kitchen and dining facilities that can cater to 1,200 people at a time; three man-made lakes that irrigate the 15,000 trees planted to provide fruits and vegetables and a rural retreat atmosphere; and a solar water heater for cooking. The telephone exchange, computers and emergency lighting systems are powered by solar and wind energy, and a unique waste treatment plant is capable of treating 200,000 liters of washing, kitchen and bathroom waste water daily, of which nearly 80 percent is available for re-use.

In 1996, the Academy was presented to Habitat II, the second UN Conference on Human Settlements held in Istanbul, Turkey. It was recognised as part of the Best Practice Initiative for Human Settlements.

Fourth Annual “Everyday DC” Photography Exhibition: Opening Reception

“Everyday DC,” a photography exhibition, presents a visual narrative of everyday life in Washington, D.C. through the eyes of DC students

Please join us for an opening reception of the 4th annual

“Everyday DC” exhibition

at the Pepco Edison Place Gallery

in Washington, D.C.

on the evening of Wednesday, March 11, 2020

from 5:30-7:30pm.

Remarks will begin at 6:00pm, and will be followed by live music and snacks.

“Everyday DC,” a photography exhibition on view at the Pepco Edison Place Gallery from March 10, 2020, through March 20, 2020, presents a visual narrative of everyday life in Washington, D.C. through the eyes of more than 150 public middle school students from all four quadrants of the city. The exhibition is the culmination of a unit designed by the Pulitzer Center in collaboration with D.C. Public Schools (DCPS) and facilitated by over a dozen DCPS visual arts teachers. Images from 14 middle schools are represented in the exhibition.

The Everyday DC project was inspired by the Everyday Africa project, founded by Pulitzer Center grantees Peter DiCampo and Austin Merrill to visually represent a more accurate understanding of what the majority of Africans experience on a day-to-day basis: normal life. Like Everyday Africa, Everyday DC challenges students to consider how Washington D.C. is portrayed in the media, and how they can compose images that more accurately visualize their everyday experiences.

The Everyday DC project is funded in part by the D.C. Commission on the Arts & Humanities, an agency supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts. The project is also supported by the Pepco Edison Gallery, which generously donated the space for the exhibition. For more information about the unit plan and exhibition, contact education@pulitzercenter.org.

Gallery opens to the public every Tuesday to Friday, March 10 through March 20, from Noon to 4 p.m. The space will also be open on Saturday, March 14, 2020. Free admission.
